Søren Lundsgaard gives a lecture in director's liability

Søren Lundsgaard will give a lecture together with Niklas Theter, Financial Lines Manager at AIG, at JUC’s course in director’s liability on 2 May 2019.

On the course, you will become well acquainted with responsibilities in regard to board duties and get some food for thought with respect to any potential directorships and actions for damages you may be faced with.

The course in director’s liability focuses on a number of different aspects concerning the work of the board of directors and from this the floating potential responsibilities, with a main emphasis on liability. Based on the underlying rules (mainly the Danish Companies Act) as well as case law, the course will shed light on subjects such as the responsibilities in different types of companies/businesses – including limited liability companies, financial services companies and associations – with a main emphasis on limited liability companies, the importance of communication with an auditor, the culpa standard in director’s liability, the risk of being held criminally liable e.g. in regard to bribery abroad as well as the Competition Act and the Securities Trading Act.

Current aspects and more recent case law will naturally be included.

The target audience of the course will primarily be lawyers and board members, however, senior executives and employees responsible for compliance as well as law graduates in the insurance business will stand to benefit as well.

The course is both basic and advanced at the same time, however, the benefit that actual experts within the field stand to gain will probably be quite limited.
